🌊 Seth Sidades and the Hot Ocean
Join us on an exciting excursion to explore the western part of the island, see the stunning beauty of the Sete Cidades Valley, enjoy a delicious lunch, visit the postcard town of Musteiros and experience the unique "hot ocean".
At 10:00 AM, we'll head to the western part of the island, driving along a mountain road and past a viewpoint where you can admire the view of the island's narrowest part. The journey continues to "Vista do Rei," the island's famous vantage point with a magnificent view of the Sete Cidades Valley with its blue and green lakes. We'll stroll through a beautiful park with a stunning view of the volcanic lakes, descend to Lake Canario, then head into the Sete Cidades Valley and drive between the colorful lakes.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
After lunch we will look at the postcard town of Musteiros from above and take beautiful photographs.
You must have heard about the unique, only place in the world called the “hot ocean”, where ocean water mixes with an underwater hot spring, swimming there is a real pleasure!
That's where we'll go.
If the weather permits, you can swim (the ocean will not be warm yet, since it only heats up during low tide, and the low tide will be late, but the water temperature is comfortable, about 20-21º). The place itself and its lunar landscape are worth a visit.
🌋 Furnas - Valley of Geysers
Explore Furnas, the Valley of Geysers and Mineral Springs, and enjoy a day filled with scenic views, a tea plantation tour, a traditional Cozida dish, a hot thermal pool, and a trip along the southern coast of the Azores.
The excursion continues to the hot springs. where you will see more than 23 springs, different in temperature and chemical composition, with gases, without gases, located at different levels of the Earth.
12:30 Before stopping for lunch, let's see how it is taken out of the bowels of the earth.
We return to the valley for lunch "cozido" at a local restaurant. The traditional dish Kozida is prepared in volcanic heat, where it simmers for 6 hours. This dish consists of local sausages, black blood, 3 types of meat and many vegetables. It is not only tasty, but also healthy, since no spices, salt or oils are added to it. Everything is prepared in its own juice and by nature itself.
3:00 PM: A visit to Terra Nostra, one of Europe's most beautiful botanical parks (entrance €10), will also be unforgettable. It features trees and plants from all over the world, and you'll also have the opportunity to swim in a hot thermal pool (38ºC). The color of this water is unusual—yellow-brown. The water that flows from the spring into the pool is rich in iron and numerous minerals, which will help you relax and improve your health.
